How often should you see a dental hygienist?
· Sarab Koyar Salehi, Licensed dental hygienist · 1 min read

Many people wonder how often to book a dental hygienist. The short answer is that it varies. What decides it is your oral health, not a fixed schedule.
What decides how often you should come?
| Situation | What it can mean |
|---|---|
| Healthy gums and little tartar | Often a longer time between visits |
| A lot of tartar or bleeding gums | More frequent visits may be needed |
| Dry mouth or higher cavity risk | Closer follow-up and extra fluoride can help |
| Smoking or snus | Can affect gums and cause stains, more frequent visits can help |
